Overview

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025 to fill various Group 'B' and Group 'C' posts in different Ministries, Departments, and Organizations of the Government of India, as well as Constitutional Bodies, Statutory Bodies, and Tribunals. The notification will be uploaded on ssc.gov.in on 09 June 2025. The examination process is fair, transparent, and merit-based.

Details of Posts

Pay Level-7 (₹44,900 to ₹142,400)

  • Accountant: Offices under C&AG (Group 'B', Age: 18-30 years)
  • Sub Inspector: National Investigation Agency (NIA) (Group 'B', Age: 18-30 years)
  • Sub-Inspector/Junior Intelligence Officer: Narcotics Control Bureau (MHA) (Group 'B', Age: 18-30 years)
  • Junior Statistical Officer: Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (Group 'B', Age: 18-32 years)
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Ministry of Home Affairs (Group 'B', Age: 18-30 years)

Note

Candidates must check physical standards and medical tests for specific posts, conducted by the respective User Departments after final selection.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality/Citizenship

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire), Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification (as on 01-08-2025)

  • Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
  • All Other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years after deduction of military service rendered as on 01-08-2025

Physical Standards

Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN

  • Male Candidates: Height: 157.5 cm (relaxable by 5 cm for Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and ST members); Chest: 81 cm (fully expanded with 5 cm minimum expansion); Physical Test: 25 km walking within 5 hours, 1.6 km running in 15 minutes, 3.5 meters long jump (3 chances), 1.2 meters high jump (3 chances), 800 meters cycling in 30 minutes (cycling not required for OA, OL, OAL categories).
  • Female Candidates: No chest measurement required.

Sub-Inspector in CBI

  • Male: Height: 165 cm (relaxable by 5 cm for Hillsmen and Tribals); Chest: 76 cm with expansion; Vision: Distant 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, Near 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in the other.
  • Female: Height: 150 cm; No chest measurement; Same vision requirements.

Sub-Inspector in NIA

  • All Candidates: Chest: 77 cm unexpanded with 5 cm expansion; Vision: Distant 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, Near 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in the other.

Physical measurements and tests will be conducted by the concerned departments post-selection. Candidates must ensure they meet these standards before applying.

  • PwBD Certificate (as per Annexure-XII, XIII, XIV)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Discharge Certificate, Undertaking (Annexure-VIII), Serving Defence Personnel Certificate (Annexure-VII)
  • Central Government Civilian Employees: Certificate as per Annexure-VI
  • No Objection Certificate (if already employed in Government)

Important Note

Candidates must submit original and attested copies during Document Verification. Failure to produce required documents or discrepancies may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Application Process

How to Apply

  1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on ssc.gov.in.
  2. Log in and fill the online application form for CGL 2025.
  3. Capture live photograph and upload signature.
  4. Upload required educational and category certificates.
  5. Select three examination centers within the same region in order of preference.
  6. Pay the application fee (if applicable) and submit the form.
  7. Take a printout of the application form for records.

Application Fee

  • Fee: To be announced (exempt for women, SC/ST, PwBD, ESM)
  • Payment Modes: Online (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, UPI)

Important Instructions

  • Ensure all details match the Matriculation Certificate.
  • Applications with blurred photographs or signatures will be rejected.
  • No changes allowed after final submission or correction window closure.
  • Regularly check ssc.gov.in for updates.

Selection Procedure

  • Tier-I (Computer Based Examination): Objective-type, multiple-choice questions (General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension); 60 minutes (80 minutes for scribes); 0.50 marks negative marking per wrong answer.
  • Tier-II: Paper-I (compulsory for all posts), Paper-II (for Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II); includes Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language, Computer Knowledge, and Data Entry Speed Test (DEST); negative marking of 1 mark (Paper-I Sections I-III) and 0.50 marks (Paper-II).
  • Document Verification: Verification of all eligibility documents.
  • Physical and Medical Tests: For specific posts, conducted by respective departments.

Important Note

Candidates must qualify each stage. Separate cut-offs for Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II. Check syllabus and exam details on ssc.gov.in.
